An opportunity for homeschoolers provided at no charge by Athol Bird and Nature Club.

Geology division coordinator/teacher Max MacPhee and aquatic biologist/ teacher Cathy Szal will offer a class for homeschoolers ages 8-12 years old.

March 3 or March 10: We will give an introduction to geology by comparing and contrasting different types of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. We’ll be investigating traits of each type of rock using microscopes and hand lens. We’re offering two sessions of the same class, please sign up for just one. We’ll have a snack break, so bring a snack if you’d like one. All equipment and materials will be supplied.

The classes are from 10:00am-12:00pm and will be held at the Millers River Environmental Center, 100 Main St., Athol, MA. There will be a limit of 10 students/class.
