An opportunity for homeschoolers provided at no charge by Athol Bird and Nature Club.

Aquatic biologist/ teacher Cathy Szal and educator Bonnie Benjamin will offer a hands-on lab class for homeschoolers ages 8-12 years old.

April 7th or April 14th: Dissecting and compound microscopes will be used to take a closer look at tree stems, trunks, roots and leaves. We will explore trees in winter and learn the basics of identifying trees by their twigs. We’ll make twig cards to help in identification.

We’re offering two sessions of the same class, please sign up for just one. We’ll have a snack break, so bring a snack if you’d like one. All equipment and materials will be supplied. The classes are from 10:00-12:00 and will be held at the Millers River Environmental Center, 100 Main St., Athol, MA. There will be a limit of 12 students/class.
