The last year plus have been trying for all of us. As more of us get vaccinated the CDC and government at all levels have begun to lift restrictions sometimes creating more questions about what we can or should do when gathering together. Fully vaccinated adults are now allowed to meet outdoors without masks and even indoors with some restrictions. For us at the Millers River Environmental Center the rules in effect are those of the municipality (Athol) who own our building. All that said we are moving forward to the day we can all join together in a safe and fun environment.

Our new projection system is installed and functioning.. We can’t wait to get us all together to use it. The system is designed to allow for hybrid presentations. Basically, we are still able to provide a Zoom feed for presentations happening in the meeting room so our friends and members from near and far may enjoy our programs from the comfort of their homes and we can invite speakers from anywhere in the world to present to our in-person meeting.

I don’t think we will be rushing to open to large groups just yet, smaller groups and programs may begin in early June I am hoping that this lag time will allow us to figure out how to operate the new system. With all technology, there is a learning curve.

and this is just another example. Projector, Microphones, cameras, Zoom links all have to work together so we are thankful for a little lead time before we go live. The costs for this technology were made possible by a $2,500 grant from the Athol Cultural Council and generous donations from our members and friends.

In the meantime get outside to enjoy the awaking spring as it finally begins to feel like May.
